Dear Readers,
In the fall of 2018, I came across the book Your Money Or Your Life by Vicki Robin in of all places a thrift store. I promptly laid down my $1 for the book. I have always been fascinated with financial topics and have read dozens of books on finances but somehow this book had escaped me.
Financially Independent But Not Necessarily “Early”
One of the key take a ways in the book that many people have chosen to live by is FIRE. Financially Independent Retire Early. While in my early 60’s and well on my way to being Financially Independent, if not already there, I think I have missed the opportunity to Retire Early!
Aligning Values and Life Purpose
There was one section in Your Money Or Your Life that really got me thinking about what was I going to do when I planned to retire in a few short years. This section talked about the expenditure of you life’s energy in alignment with your vales and your life purpose.
Joanna Macy, an educator, ecologist and author suggested three directions in which to look for your own purpose.
1. Work with your passion, on projects you deeply care about. What was your dream before you stopped dreaming. What work would you do even if you weren’t paid to do it?
2. Work with your pain, with people whose pain touches your heart.
3. Work with what is at hand, with the opportunities that arise daily for responding to the simple needs of others.
Passion, pain, and what’s at hand-these are the doorways into finding a purpose beyond material acquisition.

Aligning My Values and My Life Purpose
After thinking about those three questions for quite some time I woke up one morning and sent my daughter a text message. “I know what I want to my life purpose to be when I retire!!. I want to start a blog to help people save for retirement, manage their finances, and payoff their student debt. Basically, what I have been doing for you but on a bigger scale!”
Realizing My Life Purpose
So here we are today. I hope that my passion for personal finance, the experiences and enjoyment I have gained from helping others improve their finances, and the information in my blog provides you the guidance and information for you to attain your financial and life goals.
